Twinkle, twinkle little star. On Saturday, July 18, we will know where you are – at Kirtan Under the Stars on the Encinitas Ashram Grounds at 215 W. K Street, from 7 – 9 p.m. You are invited to an evening of devotional chanting with the SRF Nuns’ Kirtan Group. You may wish to bring a shawl, sweater, or jacket to ward off the chill. Please enter through the K Street gate, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Please note:  Handicap parking will be available on 2nd St. in the parking lot on the south side of the J St. chapel building — look for SRF ushers and signs to direct you.

Parents with young children will have a special seating area near an activity and storytelling tent for the kids.

The Encinitas Young Adults group will meet this Tuesday, July 14 from 6:30-8:30 p.m., beginning with a meditation in the main Temple. This will be followed by a discussion in the Special Events Room on the theme of “Understanding and Attuning with the Power of Love.” The meeting will conclude with food and fellowship. Those between the ages of 18-40 are welcome to attend.

Our Temple Meeting takes place on Tuesday, July 21, from 7 – 8:30 p.m.  at the main Temple. The meeting begins with a short inspirational talk followed by a half-hour meditation, Temple updates, and an Autobiography of a Yogi study class given by the minister. This meeting is open to all.

For those attending Convocation in-person: if you want to avoid high parking fees in downtown Los Angeles and a long drive in crawling traffic, consider taking one of the Temple’s chartered buses to and from Convocation. On Sunday, August 2, one bus will depart 215 K Street near the Ashram parking lot gate at 10:00 a.m. On Saturday, August 8, one bus will leave the Bonaventure Hotel at 4 p.m.to return to Encinitas.

Tickets, though limited, are on sale online on the Temple website, encinitastemple.org and on Sundays and Thursdays at the Temple patio after services, so reserve early. Payment will be required at the time of reservation. Credit cards, cash, and checks will be accepted.

Today and next Sunday, July 19, the Hermitage will be open from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. If you wish to make a reservation, please do so by visiting the Encinitas Temple website (www.encinitastemple.org), or you may inquire about availability at the Encinitas Ashram Visitors Center office today after 11 a.m.

On Sunday, August 9, the meditation gardens will be closed for SRF’s Convocation Pilgrimage.

All are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Service for John Jalkenen, to be held Sunday, July 26 at 1:30 p.m. in the main Temple. John served as the Volunteer Coordinator at Encinitas Temple for over 26 years and inspired the devotee community through his loving service and dedication to the spiritual path. Following the memorial service, all are warmly invited to attend a reception at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship located nearby at 1036 Solana Dr. in Solana Beach. It’s a ten-minute drive, and since parking is limited, carpooling is recommended. The reception will begin at 4 p.m. with informal sharing of stories about John, and afterward, a catered Indian meal will be served.

Saturday, July 18: The SRF Lessons Study Group is canceled.

Sunday, July 19: The Bhagavad Gita Study Group is reading from Volume One of God Talks with Arjuna: The Bhagavad Gita.
