Welcome to the Encinitas Personal Retreat Program

“Every person needs a retreat, a dynamo of silence where he may go for the exclusive purpose of being recharged by the Infinite.”
—Paramahansa Yogananda

The SRF Encinitas Retreat is located in the coastal city of Encinitas, California, approximately 95 miles south of Los Angeles and 30 miles north of San Diego. Our program provides a quiet and spiritual environment where individuals can take the time to focus on deepening their spiritual practices of meditation, reflection, and study of Paramahansa Yogananda’s teachings.

Retreatants have the opportunity to visit the SRF Hermitage—where Paramahansaji lived for many years and wrote his Autobiography of a Yogi—as well as enjoy the meditation gardens during daylight hours, meditate in the SRF J-Street Chapel across the street from the retreat building (see below for hours), and attend a variety of activities at the SRF Encinitas Temple.

Activities while you are on retreat

We suggest that during your personal retreat you include the following (see schedule of activities offered below):

  • Daily individual and group meditations
  • Practice of the SRF Energization Exercises
  • Inspirational classes and services led by SRF monastics
  • Pilgrimage visit to the SRF Hermitage
  • Time to relax and enjoy the beautiful and serene meditation gardens
  • Personal meditations in the J-Street Chapel
  • SRF books for private study
  • One-on-one monastic counseling
